Career Advice

Students are given advice regarding their subject options keeping in mind the area they want to eventually specialize in. They are also given guidelines regarding their future careers and what they can excel at in view of their interests and their aptitude. Moreover they are given assistance and the relevant details that are required when applying to foreign universities.

Internship Arrangements

Students who are enrolled in the LLB Programme are assisted with regard to internships so that they can work during the holidays and gain valuable experience, which is an essential requirement of universities abroad. The Institute has a list of law firms that are considered prestigious within professional circles where students recommended by the Coordinator are accepted as law interns.

Advocacy Training Programme - (ATP)

Students enrolled in the full-time LLB Programme are compulsorily required to attend the ATP classes. Although this is not a requirement of the University of London or of the Punjab University, we feel that this helps to develop the student’s language and analytical skills. Trained Barristers carry out specifically chosen exercises to further enhance the students’ abilities to become successful lawyers. Mock cases are handed out to them, which they are then taught how to prepare in a courtroom like environment. As a result, the students at TILS learn practical skills towards becoming a lawyer, along with their academics. This also prepares them for giving the test prescribed by the Pakistan Bar Council and conducted by the Higher Education Commission to enroll as an advocate and obtain a licence to practice in Pakistan.

Student Library

The College Library stocks all the books that are recommended for the relevant programmes. The Library operates on a system of lending whereby full time students become members to avail its services. The students are issued a library card, which entitles them to borrow books to study at home. The Library also stocks reference books and subscribes to journals which provide students with extra materials that are useful and facilitate their study.

Computer Lab & Photocopying

Students are provided with a computer lab equipped with Internet facility that can be used by the law students to access the online libraries of the University of London, other Universities and other related sites, which contain up-to-date information regarding the latest cases and statutes.

The Library, at a nominal charge, provides photocopying facilities, details of which are available upon request. It is not a pay and collect facility. Students wishing to avail themselves of this service have to place an order with the Librarian and the material will be made available within 24 hours.
