Life At TILS

Besides being a centre of excellence, The Institute also plays host to a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. Choosing TILS means choosing an institute where staff and students work hard to achieve and sustain a high standard of academic excellence. But working hard isn’t the only thing TILS is good at: it’s a friendly place too. The Institute conducts several events to promote socializing, cultural activities, sports and debates amongst many others. It creates an environment where students, irrespective of their course of study, interact with the students and faculty members of other programmes with the intention of creating a symbiotic relationship among the different streams.

At the beginning of the Autumn term, the Annual TILS Induction/Matriculation Ceremony is held giving students a chance to mingle socially with seniors and the faculty. It is also an opportunity for them to take the first step in forming enduring bonds of friendship and associations. Other official events are:

  • Student Council Formation
  • Halloween Night
  • Music Concert
  • Guest Lectures
  • Bake Sales
  • Movie Nights
  • Moot Court
  • College Trips
  • Valentine’s Day Party
  • Spring Barbeque Night
  • Farewell Dinner

The session commences in mid-September with the Student Council formation being completed in the first week of October. The purpose of these elections is to provide a platform through which students can voice their interests and serves as a bridge between the Student Body and Administration of the Institute. In recent years, a team of highly competent students participated at the Model United Nations, which is held at the Lahore University of Management Sciences in November/December. Furthermore, the Annual Law Moot is held in mid-January and all students are encouraged to take part. Studies at the Institute are not just about providing the student with a strong academic background; emphasis is also placed upon case presentation and court room decorum. The Law Moot is designed specifically to meet these requirements. A healthy competition is held at the Lahore, Islamabad and Multan campuses. Besides this, guest speakers are invited to address the student body on an array of topics to enhance the students’ understanding of current issues, Apart from these, there are events that are organized by the students themselves. These include the Halloween/Winter Carnival, Valentine Party and Iftar Party. Bake sales and Movie nights are held on a fortnightly basis. Sports activities at the Institute include staff vs. students cricket matches, table tennis tournaments and netball competitions. An out of city excursion is organized annually under the supervision of staff members. The student body is encouraged to conduct various activities independently not only to develop their organisational and inter-personal skills but to make life at TILS more interesting.
